IN The Know: A mere wardrobe staple, will soon turn into a one-week exhibit in Soho to celebrate Karl Lagerfelds upcoming photo-book “The Little Black Jacket; Chanel’s Classic Revisited.” The homage features 113 black and white photos of A- list celebrities who have adapted the Chanel stamped piece into their wardrobe. Lagerfeld states that, “Every designer dreams of inventing the Chanel jacket. It’s up there with jeans or the T-shirt; it is gender-neutral. That is to say, it can be womenswear or menswear.”
The House of Chanel continues to be a study in opposites: lean and luxe, dressed up but dressed down; boy meets girl (catering to all women). The little black Chanel jacket is proof that one oh-so precious, iconic piece can not only be warn in any decade, but paired with just about anything.
Here is a youtube video I found, which gives all of us Chanel-obsessed fashionistas a chance to see behind the scenes action when creating the everlasting Chanel Black Jacket. Enjoy.
